"Marion Arleigh's Penance" is a story of a young woman's naivety and a pair of siblings who take advantage of her innocent ways.

Marion is a likable character, being beautiful within as well as without.

Ms Brame's description of Marion's physical appearance and her personality is impressive, as is the opening of the book, which has the right type of "hook" to entice the reader to continue with the story.

I had not heard of Charlotte M. Brame until reading this story. I like her style of writing, thus I shall sample more of her work. ( )
