Really cute poetry collection about the school day. I especially liked the illustrations by Doug Cushman. Some of my favorite poems from the collection are:

- My backpack weights a thousand pounds
-We had a field trip yesterday
-I wish I'd studied harrder (That's the way the author spelled it!)
-I made a noise this morning
-I'm off to the Infirmary
-Teacher's Pet ( )

This is a very cute book of peoms. Each poem is about an event that happened at school that day. The rhyming patterns are easy to read.

A young cat writes poems for all the activites he did at school one day. Some things he did very good and some things he was not so good at. At the end he has to write a poem for homework but he does not think he can do it until he realizes that he just wrote a poem.

This book is fun to look at because its pictures are so cute and illustrious. This is a chapter book about the things that are school related. For example, one of the characters has a heavy backpack and it makes him fall over. The poems are rhyming so it would be good for a rhyme-based instruction book.

Level 5 reading. This book is about the child's school day. The mother ask about his day and he has everything written in his journal. The journal has 17 poems labeled: My backpack weighs a thousand pounds, I tried to do my homework, We're shaking maracas, we had a field trip yesterday, I wish I studied harder, a classmate named Tim, I made a noise this morning, it's library time, In the cafeteria, I know how to add, A man named mister hobbybatch, I'm off to the infirmary, I'm learning our history, I drew a yellow unicorn, Show-and-tell, teacher's pet, and I have to writew a poem for class. This website has good activities. http://www.cbv.ns.ca/sstudies/activit... ( )
