If you only have time for one of Ehrman's series of lectures with Great Courses, this is probably the one to pick. It's like a "best of" cut through what he covers in the rest of them. ( )

Pretty much everything in this course is covered at greater length in one or more of Ehrman's other courses or books. But that is really its strength, since in these compact 30-minute lectures he makes his points more concisely than he tends to do in other places. If you are new to the subject, listening to this will provide a great overview of the various issues, both with the new testament itself and with how it has been interpreted over the centuries. You can then follow up, probably with one of Ehrman's other lectures or books. He remains probably the best explainer of the bible's historical impossibilities, forgeries, and misinterpretations. ( )
