216. Giotto's Hand - Iain Pears
A well-written, humorous and entertaining mystery. The ending was a little chaotic, but the characters are strong and the narrative is well-paced. 4/5.

In between I did have a go at Giotto's Hand but thought the writing was so bad, the characters so dull (and too alike) that I had to give it up after 40 pages. I've never read anything else by Iain Pears ... 7. Giotto's Hand by Iain Pears
Compared to An Instance of the Fingerpost, this is a much simpler book, which does not require as much reflection as the former. I thought that - as the book is said to be an "art mystery" - the story would involve questions of art history on a deeper level, ... ... Nilo Cruz
