Curious George is excited for St. Patrick's Day and does a variety of traditional things for the holiday like wear green, make a leprechaun trap craft, eat Irish stew, and join a parade. Of course, because he's Curious George, not everything goes as smoothly as planned but everything works out in the end!

I absolutely love Curious George, so it's hard for me to find a title I don't like. This one is no exception - it's a great introduction to the holiday of St. Patrick's Day, showing kids a variety of things that can be done to celebrate. This title is a little long for a typical board book, but each tabbed section is almost like a little self-contained story. Although of course it all relates together in the end, you could potentially skip a tab or two if you felt your audience didn't have the attention span for the whole thing without losing too much. Still, I found that even my restless toddler class did a pretty good job staying attentive throughout the entire story, even if some parts needed a little additional explaining for them (i.e., what a leprechaun trap is). Overall, I enjoyed this book for its clear introduction to the holiday, its simple but fun and rhyming text, and the soft illustrations that fit perfectly with the narrative. ( )
