Hickam describes the genesis of his memoir Rocket Boys and the movie version, October Sky. We learn how Hollywood can never leave well enough alone, but in this case, the resulting movie still turned out well and continues to inspire its viewers and draw more readers to the book over a decade after its release. Hickam and his wife appear to lead a charmed life--but he comes across as such a real and deserving person, I can only be happy for him. ( )

I enjoyed this short book on my Kindle. It was interesting to read how a book is made into a movie. Since I enjoyed the movie and loved the book, I found the process very interesting. ( )
