Great memoir. Gives a really good sense of who Kincaid was, although sometimes it seemed like he was just as concerned with his puns and wordplay as with the drama of the action. It made for a fun read but sometimes that verbosity could have been applied to the events of the day.
Good read though, and easily one of the best descriptions of Waterloo that I've read so far. Interesting that Kincaid notes Wellington wouldn't have fought if not for Blucher's promise of 30k men, and when Kincaid steps from the smoke in the late afternoon the field to his left is swarming with Prussians, but Kincaid still feels like the battle was (or would have been) won without them.
