This biography is written as a poem about John Chapman, who is also known as "Johnny Appleseed". He was a frontier man who traveled the world planting his apple seeds and telling people about his Christian beliefs.

I remember this story from when I was in elementary. My daughter also learned about "Johnny Appleseed" last year when she was in Pre-K. I think this book would be good to use in a classroom of young students because it is written in poetry, has a lot of pictures, and is an easy book to read.

I would have my students draw a picture of the type of tree they would pick to plant across the world. I would also have my class make something out of apples. Instead of making applesauce like most classes do, I would have my class make apple butter.

Johnny Appleseed is man who walks around barefooted planting apple seeds all over the land and he experiences many unique adventures. I like this story because it an all time classic and many people have retold the story various times and it still good. This is a good book to read during Johnny Appleseed week.

Johnny Appleseed is a book that uses poetry to talk about a story of a man named Johnny Appleseed. How he travels all over the early Americas planting his apple seeds everywhere he went. This story has a girl who meets Johnny on his travels and he tells her why apple seeds and trees are so important to the land. This book talks about how God had sent old Johnny Appleseed on the travels across the states to spread the joys of apples all throughout the land.

I really liked this story it was touching to see the pictures of the states back before the country was so full of people. This was a good story to tell expecially during the fall season when apples are your theme.

You could have the children go out and plant some apple seeds in the yards or in the parks to help celebrate Johnny Appleseed. Also you can share all the many types of apples that grow from the trees with the children tasting each kind so they can see if they have a favorite.

Johnny Appleseed's story as told through poetry is a brilliant way to bring to life one of America's folk heroes. The painting provided in this book are gorgeous and sometimes there will pages with only paintings. Also, pay close attention to the borders around the text on every page. With as many times as people have heard the story of Johnny Appleseed, this version really is the most meaningful to me. There are maps and even a biography of the true Johnny "Appleseed" Chapman. Great for the beginning of the school year! ( )

Definitely not the action/adventure hero I was looking for as a child. American, too, I think, so that meant I was less interested. when it comes right down to it, planting fruit is really not that interesting a story if you are looking for something fun. ( )
