En gammel forsvinning og et forferdelig torturfunn blir tilslutt hengende sammen. Annika Bengtsson har fått ny familie og er i sin gamle jobb der hun treffer en politikvinne som hun har hemmeligheter sammen med. Hennes kjærlighetssvik dukker sporadisk opp som forklaring på ting som skjer og de to sporhund-kvinnene bidrar hver for seg og tilslutt sammen med en løsning på både på den gamle forsvinningssaken og den nye tortursaken.

Annika Bengtzon Krimis gefallen mir immer. Interessant ist das Stilmittel, das Marklund dieses Mal wählt: Teile der Story werden aus der Sicht von Annika, ihrem Ex-Mann Tommy und der Kriminalpolizistin Nina Holm (im Roman "Kalter Süden" eine der Hauptfiguren) erzählt. ( )
