Deep in the forests of the Pacific Northwest lies the haunted Unser Estate. A group of individuals with "the gift" assemble to find out what lurks inside the mansion. At first, Steven and Roy are hesitant to work with unfamiliar people, but with their good friend Eliza, all three become committed to helping the others determine why the Unser mansion is poisoning the nearby town. A simple team effort to rid the estate of hauntings soon turns into a nightmare as the group suffers attacks by strange, evil forces more sinister than mere ghosts. Dark and mysterious threats await them as they explore the mansion and determine exactly what James Unser was up to - a plan so evil, it threatens to destroy them all. Eximere is a fast-paced horror and suspense novel, and the fourth book in The River series.… (more)

Won this book off of a website and was very pleasantly surprised. It was a very good story that was easy to understand, even without reading the book/books before this one. Loved this book and definitely plan to read others by this author! ( )

I received a copy of this from Librarything in exchange for an honest review.

This was an amazing novel. I started it last night and could not put it down until I finished it this morning. Simple language and fast paced. I was drawn in from the first page.
It is the fourth book in Richan's The River series, but is written in a way that one can still understand it even without a knowledge of the other books. It gave me chills to read such an excellent story. It is very plot-based and dialogue-focused. Pretty quick to get through and definitely worth it. I would love to go back and read the first three books. ( )

I just love this series! I got the first book for free and realized I could read the rest for free with Kindle Unlimited. So glad I have that option with Amazon.
Anyway, this book brings Eliza back from the previous book as she asks for Roy's and Steven's help. Things weren't what they expected and it almost cost them their gifts. But they end up saving the day and even get to speak with Roy's great great grandfather. They also mess with a crazy ghost and some scary "Marchers" that will skin you alive if they catch you. Really kept my attention and wanted to just keep reading all night to see what would happen next. ( )

A good ghost story with a twist.

A group of psychics are invited to this creepy mansion to try to cleanse the evil from it. Once they join a trance together, a machine is activated to drain their powers from them. They can't leave the small town without becoming nauseous. They can't even get very far from the mansion. They can't walk the grounds at night without the chance of being skinned by the creatures set to protect the grounds. They are stuck until they are drained.

Overall, very well done. Some of the characters were a little flat. But I enjoyed the story. I really liked the idea of Eximere itself. Cool concept. I hope he revisits in his next book. ( )
