Any day that starts with dragon arguments is going to be bad

Kaylin returned from the West March in one piece. Now that piece is fraying. She's not at home in the Imperial Palaceâ??and she never intends to be. All she wants is normal garden-variety criminals and a place of her own. Of course, normal in her new life involves a dragon as a roommate, but she can handle that.

She can't as easily handle the new residents to the city she polices, because one of them is Nightshade's younger brother. On a night when she should be talking to landlords in perfectly normal buildings, she's called to the fiefâ??by Teela. A small family disagreement has become a large, complicated problem: Castle Nightshade's latent magic is waking.

And it's not the only thing.

Another excellent and freshly-imagined installment. There are bits of the dreamscape that are feeling a tad stale as I've binged ten books in a row, but Sagara has such talent with introducing new elements that keep things fresh and exciting... and also adding depth to the world. What I'm looking for now, is a bit more personal progress in Kaylin. She's been a private for ten books. And hasn't experienced nearly enough personal growth for my tastes.

Moving on to the next installment with anticipation and hope, and a very loud fief shrug~! ( )

I love Michelle Sagara and I will forgive her novels many shortcomings simply because her stories intrigue me so much. that being said I think she writes the slowest moving romances EVER. The world these characters inhabit fascinates me and even after all the books in this series I still feel rather clueless as to how it works which is actually a good thing I think. The biggest negative for me is that I have to wait a whole year for the next book. ( )

This one goes by QUICK. You'll have to hit the ground running with Kaylin as normal once again flies out the window and gets swept away by dragons, Barrani, and the sinisterly powerful. ( )

Fascinating

I liked this one so much more than the last book. I am still amazed at the world created here, how language and words are so much more than just sounds; how true names are the essential essence of a person. It really is fascinating to me. Now to start the next book. ( )

Kaylin and Beluseo go apartment hunting and find a house that used to be a tower, Helen. Lots of action, lots of adventure, and some soul baring. Hope grows in size and Kaylin can finally hear her familiar. She also meets and talks to the Emperor and was still alive. ( )
