ETA: I hate the word "just" as a filler in a sentence and I catch myself using it all the time! ... slow.
I really like Simon Vance as a narrator and am listening to the Aubrey/Maturin books with him. I did have to do Post Captain with Patrick Tull because the library's copy with Vance as the reader was damaged.

9. Hi! I just joined this group.
Anyway, I just finished the first three Aubrey/Maturin books (Master and Commander, Post Captain, and HMS Surprise) and am taking a little break. This seemed like a good place to break, as the next book starts a few years after the end of HMS Surprise.
I'm ... ... The Club Dumas to meet Captain Alatriste to learn some Grave Secrets. At the Bar he ordered a Whiskey Sour while The Captain ordered Champagne for One.
The Informant asked him if he were Lucky at Cards, then proceeded to put his Cards on the Table. He had a Full House ... Just started reading O'Brian! I'm on Post Captain. I listened to the audiobook version of Master and Commander after seeing the film (great soundtrack by the way!) I actually find it easier to read than listen to, and I didn't like the way the narrator did Stephen's voice. I never thought I ... ... (2) The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger

I'm on my second trip through the series. The first time, I actually gave up halfway through Post Captain and took it back to the library. But curiosity got the better of me. I checked it out again, finished it, and read the rest of the series in order.
I've ... Reread The Pursuit of Love, The No. 1 Ladies Detective agency and am finishing Post Captain, all for the umpty umphth time. Count is 39. Master and Commander or Post Captain are part of a series by Patrick O'Brian set during the Napoleonic wars. There are a number of Regency writers that have done war related books. Two of the Slightly series by Mary Balogh, the two before Slightly Dangerous are set around Waterloo. Su ... ... alot of my favorites!
Do start with Master and Commander for O'Brian but if you're willing to try to series go through Post Captain and HMS Surprise as well to give it a fair shot :) I'm not as huge a Hornblower fan myself and should really reread them more thoughly, but I'd recommend ... ... I'd say: Wrong book ;-). It isn't quite as good as some of the others. A good book to get a taste of the series is Post Captain or Desolation Island, the first is quite humourous and serves to get to know the main characters of the series, the second is more the thrilling type.

Major Barbara by George Bernard Shaw
Colonel Chabert by Honore de Balzac
The General in His Labyrinth by Gabriel Garcia Marquez I am in the middle of Post Captain by Patrick O'Brian, the second in the Aubrey-Maturin series, and a really fascinating diary by Alice Stone Blackwell about growing up in Boston during the Gilded Age.
