Cathy Spencer has created an interesting small town in Alberta, Canada with folksy charm and friendships. Anna works for a nearby university as an Administrative Assistant, has two good older women friends, eats often at the local diner and has a long distance relationship with a policeman that was involved in solving the murder of her ex-husband (book 1). Anna likes to be involved and sometimes leaps to conclusions.

This story takes place near Halloween and begins with the cemetery caretaker seeing then hearing something in the cemetery late at night. He is interested in holding a séance to contact his dead wife and the new shop owners, a brother and sister, are called in to set the séance up. Things do not go as expected at the séance and then accidents begin to occur with injuries happening to good people, counterfeit ten dollar bills showing up in town, a murder taking place, and throughout the sequence of the story Anna continues to try to figure out what is happening while talking with her friends about the mystery surrounding the town. There is action and dialogue and a romance or two kindled during the story with a satisfying conclusion to end the book.

I was gifted a copy of “Town Haunt” through LibraryThing. It is the second book in the Anna Nolan Mystery series. This is a book that will appeal to readers who enjoy small town atmosphere and a bit of mystery. It is not a deep book but it is a fun read. ( )

"It takes a witch to catch a ghost." Cemetery caretaker Sherman Mason is horrified to hear his dead wife calling to him from her grave. He asks newcomer Tiernay Rae, a gorgeous witch and proprietor of the Healing Hands store, to hold a seance to find out what’s troubling his wife’s ghost. Tiernay needs a coven to focus her powers, however, so her roguish brother, Greg, suggests that Anna Nolan and her two friends help; or the maiden, the mother, and the crone as he calls them. But with Halloween fast approaching and the seance unleashing a malicious evil in the small town of Crane, can Tiernay stop it before someone gets hurt, or even killed? Town Haunts, the second novel in the Anna Nolan series, is a cozy mystery with romantic suspense.
