Special Assignment is a darkly alluring mystery with strong and deceptive characters that peak your interest from the beginning. Charlie is tormented by her past while trying to maintain a me against the world attitude. She pulls this off while still having a heart underneath it all. At times her story feels like it lacks some credibility however this does not completely take away from being her interesting. Jake is a hate him or love him type of guy. Real, raw and hot. Forgiveness does not seem to be in his plan but his attraction to Charlie and their past history opens up old wounds and some things better left forgotten that are a pretty strong aphrodisiac for a guy like Jake. Their connection is powerful and certainly a powerful force in this story. 3.5 stars I received a copy in exchange for an honest review. ( )
