An elegant sample of Zweig’s cultural history, autobiography, and fiction. Moving evocation of pre-WWI Vienna, and what it was to be a cosmopolitan young writer then. If the Wes Anderson movie tie-in gets more people reading Zweig, I can forgive it the twee title (a reference to the society of concierges in the film, nothing to do with the author). ( )
