How little we actually know of not only our surroundings but also our lineage! Ron Mayes has written a book that is a labor of love in many ways both personal and research-wise. Out of curiosity he began looking for info regarding his grandfather and wound up writing a history for all of us to enjoy. Starting with the creation of Cherokee Lake on what was once Sherrods property, farming acres of land with hand-powered hoes, and works his way through generations of outstanding folks down to his own folks and family.
You'll read about Fat Paps jug that was discovered years later, and you'll read about the origins of 'stepping up to the plate' amongst other stories, and oh yeah, you'll meet some colorful characters along the way.
Three cheer for Ron Mayes!
