Kids.gov, the U.S. Government's Official Web Portal for Kids, is produced by the Office of Citizen Services and Innovative Technologies. It is essentially the kids' version of USA.gov -- also a good resource for older audiences -- for finding other websites and resources through government-funded programs and agencies. It is a great tool for elementary school-aged children who need free, reliable information from a safe website. Topics are organized neatly with cleanly designed, colorful buttons. For example, a child who needs an idea for a science fair project can click "science" then find a list of links to science fair project ideas. These links will take them to the kids pages of other government websites, such as NASA's Space Place site.

Kids.gov is a great resource that demonstrates that children do not necessarily need to have access to subscription databases for reliable information. ( )
