This book is great. It ranks up there with Vargas and with Long & Steele. It is more recent than either of them, and has helpful things not in the other great faceting books
There is a short review of the current facet machines. Techniques are covered similarly to Vargas, but from a slightly different perspective. Much of the remainder of the book is a step by step execution of cutting a few common gemstone cuts. One of the changes over time is to start with computer generated instructions, mostly from the application program "GenCad" which I highly recommend.

In addition to this book, Graham published about 12 later books of just cuts and cutting instructions. Nearly all of these are cuts that will yield more brilliance and scintillation than the older traditional cuts, thanks to the computer ray-tracing used in programs such as GemCad and GemRay during the cut design stage.
