I can't say that I've read a lot of medical thrillers - maybe none besides this one, in fact - so I can't compare Benedict's writing to Robin Cook or other famous authors writing stuff like this. I did enjoy the book overall, but found it pretty heavy on character development in the front half and light on action until about two-thirds of the way through.

The fact that it was a fairly short book drove me through as well as curiosity as to whether a few of my conclusions were going to end up being correct. For the most part, they were...although I wouldn't say it was predictable. It's a thriller and not really a mystery - the reader knows who the 'bad' guys are before the other characters, even if you don't quite know the extent of their involvement in what's happening.

I picked this up because Benedict is a local author to my area and somebody recommended his second book. I figured I'd start with the first one. I'm undecided at this point as to whether I'll pick up the sequel, but I might. Overall, mediocre, but not bad once you get through the first half. ( )
