This early book is rightly considered to be Van Til's best. It is the most sustained presentation of his distinctive apologetic methodology, presuppositionalism, set within the broader context of the history of philosophy. Like all other of Van Til's writings, it is unclear and frustrating at points, but one gets the sense that he is 'on to something' profound--and that it might be worth the reader's time and effort to figure out what exactly Van Til was on to! It is best read in conjunction with Frame and Bahnsen serving as interpretive guides. ( )
