I appreciated The Cunning Man : a novel, as I deemed it to be a veiled paean to the great Anglo-Catholic parish in Toronto, St. Mary Magdalene Anglican Church, whose long-time organist (Healey Willan) wrote the best communion service (i.e. a mass setting) in the Episcopal 1940 Hymnal.
