This is an example of realistic fiction because although the Stacey didn't actually exist, her feelings of inferiority and insecurity, needing reassurance, and not always getting your way are all common occurrences in the second grade world. For example, Stacey felt inferior to Patty when Patty shared about her experience of being a flower girl in a wedding, and Stacey knew she hadn't ever done that.
This book is too short/simple to otherwise critique the setting, plot, or characters. (
