Meet Karla, shy and sweet , she's got few friends, and fewer prospects of a date to the dance. Enter Paul, studly jock that all the girls drool over, he wants Karla in a big way. This book starts out as a classic high school romance, where the nerdy girl gets the hot guy. Then the weird stuff starts happening.
Karla nearly dies (or does, mostly) and wakes up the prisoner of Lucas ( with whom she's had a few strange run ins lately). She doesn't know where her parents are, and is told she must train to use her 'magical' abilities in order for her to be allowed to leave. The above all happens right at the beginning of the story, so it's not really a spoiler. I can tell you that there are vampire-like creatures, magical powers, and possession , all in this one story , which is book one in a series. The ending leaves you wanting to read the next one, but not with the burning intensity of a cliffhanger. This was a great book! ( )
