... #12, amaranthic, I agree with MrsLee, while Hungry Hill isn't my favourite Du Maurier book, I still enjoyed it. After Rebecca and My Cousin Rachel I love The House on the Strand the most. And I really liked Alias Grace, it's a very interesting story. I liked reading about my home ...

Quicksilver, by Neal Stephenson Klepto, by Jenny Pollack them, by Joyce Carol Oates Honky, by Dalton Conley Rebecca, by Daphne DuMaurier

Alas, I have no Daphne du Maurier books, although I did read Rebecca in high school and a collection of short stories - one of which was set in Venice with two perfectly ghoulish old ladies. I aspire to be a perfectly ghoulish old lady when I grow up, that is if I don't become a bag lady ...

... ago and am looking forward to reaquainting myself with them soon plus all those I have never read. One of my favourites is Rebecca, both the book and the film.

I greatly enjoyed My Cousin Rachel, but not as much as Rebecca, which I loved. Du Maurier is most certainly an author I must read more of! I really do reccomend Out Stealing Horses, I think you'd enjoy it! Beautifully written. Thank you! =) I'm surprised by my progress; I wasn't sure I ...

55. Rebecca byDaphne du Maurier I saw this movie when I was young. It really made a great movie. The book was not as good. There is a lot of description which is not my thing.

46. Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier I had read this book 30 some years ago in a high school English class. However, that was many years before Forster's biography of DduM, revealing that she was bisexual. Rereading Rebecca in his light, certainly has put a new meaning into the relationship ...

... but I'm still in ghost story mode: also got The Oxford Book of English Ghost Stories for $2, and a copy of Du Maurier's Rebecca, as the Wall St. Journal has recently admonished us to take her more seriously. I've never actually read it - apparently Hitchcock changed the end for the movie. ...

I have got to reread Rebecca after all of this discussion. I was about to read her first novel The Loving Spirit.

All right -- I finished Rebecca. I really enjoyed it -- not as much as I would have enjoyed it during my gothic novel kick at age 15, but enjoyed it nevertheless. (It was better written than a lot of the gothic novels I was devouring then, too, which helps.) Now I have to go remember which ...

I finally finished Sebastian Darke. It was all right, but didn't really hold my attention. Now I've started on Rebecca. I've heard so much about it that I thought I should try it. I really like it so far!

@#27: In the words of Comic Book Guy, "Greatest. Satire. Ever." Finished Rebecca and just starting The Comfort of Strangers. Might need to take another Early Reviewers break after the McEwan.

MrsLee in The Green Dragon : Rereading? (Aug 5, 2008, 7:39pm)

I'm rereading Rebecca right now (this is about the third time). Very surprised at how it has changed for me. I used to despise the no name narrator, now I'm finding I view her much more compassionately. I'm enjoying it very much. I love to reread my favorite stories.
