Feiffer is a master of social and personal commentary, as told through the mouths of his characters, wounded and suspicious people who still try to reach out for human companionship. These strips from the 1960's are samples of what was probably his most productive period. Few of them are funny, but nearly all are true to life and poignantly edgy. ( )
