I am beginning Krakatoa by Simon Winchester. I recently finished The Meaning of Everything and enjoyed it so much I had to see if Winchester's other books are just as good. I just finished reading The Meaning of Everything by Simon Winchester last week and I have to disagree with jarka. This fairly slim volume packs in tons of information about the creation of the Oxford English Dictionary, a massive undertaking begun in the 1850s and the first edition of which was finally finished in 1928. As a word nerd, I really enjoyed ... I finished The Meaning of Everything and The Shadow of the Wind. The latter was one I picked up because several people here had mentioned it, and I'm so glad I did!
