A follow-up to Delany's memoirs, Motion of Light on Water. My understanding is that this a somewhat fictionalized account and that Motion of Light on Water is more accurate, though since MoLoW is mostly about the vagaries of memory, it's unclear if that's a meaningful statement. I think Heavenly Breakfast captures the essence of life in Greenwich Village in the late sixties. The book recounts experimentation with drugs, sex, and the arts with the sharp-eyed, adventurous naivete of one of Delany's characters. ( )
