Reading especially Spring And All, one witnesses the break from the past, in poetry, in thinking, in perception, in spirituality. The barnacles of mush fall away - the world, the earth is re-discovered. Williams finds the center, experiences the center of consciousness.

...the imagination is an actual force
comparable to electricity or steam...the work
of imagination is not “like” anything but
transfused with the same forces which transfuse
the earth...it possesses the quality of independent
existence, of reality which we feel in ourselves.
