But for someone who grew up laughing at everything Adams ever wrote, there's a lot to like, and a lot to make you wish he was still here. ( )Well written from someone in his social circle but not a close friend. It does have warts and all but wouldnt expect the family to get upset! But not sure if I liked DA after reading this. Seemed to be great fun as long as he was the centre of attention. All the time reading I was thinking- what would have been his fate but for his social status and its opportunities coupled with the early luck of creative partners to develop the main "product" . Then this same work redrawn for different medias over the years is what mainly brings the money in. Talent or a one trick pony? Douglas Adams was a fascinating person and this book manages to convey an interesting overview of his life. That said, I wasn't too impressed by the biography itself, its a bit long-winded, especially in the later half. Pretentious, overwritten and packed with basic errors, a sad waste of paper. Fortunately an accurate and enjoyable biography does exist: http://www.librarything.com/catalog/5... no reviews | add a review
