a "how to" book about writing

Appreciated the vast array of examples.Usually books on writing are heavy on "the rules" but light on showing them in use. Not the case here. Except, in listing numerous examples - there were 100+ books referenced - Kress also gave away book details, like twists and endings. So be forewarned: while reading this book, if you see a title you haven't read, you may want to skim across that bit to avoid spoilers.

Useful advice, well-written and non-preachy. ( )

I ending up finding this because I was looking for sequels to her Probability series. No luck there, but I found this book.

It was actually very readable, and filled with examples taken from a lot of books, which was pretty well done. Not that I am a writer at all, this book was still worth reading. ( )
