Sembra una mattina comeı tante altre quella del 7 dicembre 1941 nella baia di Pearl Harıbor: le navi alla fonda si stanno preparando per l'alzabandiera, chi non è di guardia pensa a come passerà a terra il giorno feıstivo, chi deve rimanere a bordo maledice la routine della vita militare. All'improvviso una tremenda esplosione lacera l'aria eı una miriade di apparecchi giapponesi si lancia all'attacco bombardando, mitragliando, silurando. Sono le 7.53: l'impero giapponese ha dichiarato, senza preavviso, guerra agli Stati Uniti.
