This book is about a girl named Josephine Fiedler, whose father is running for mayor. Her father has a bad heart so instead of living in Boston her family is living in Tucson, Arizona, in 1882. This town is not very safe and is in the desert so it is very dusty. Jo has a best friend named Connie who is the son of the other person who is running for mayor. In the first part Jo wants Connie’s father to win and Connie wants Jo’s father to win but after a few events happen Jo starts to want her father to win. Tucson Jo contains law and order, bandits, and women’s rights.

This book was very exciting. In this book there was a very thrilling part where Josephine was shopping when bandits rushed into the shop. Another part of Tucson Jo that I liked was that Jo really loved books. There were a lot of thrilling happenings in this story. The part that I liked best was when Jo was brave enough to fight off some bandits herself. An interesting part was that Josephine was always getting yelled at for wearing trousers.

Something that I did not like about this story was that it was very serious. There were not many funny parts in this story. Other than that, I liked it a lot. It was a very well written book. I definitely recommend this book.
