First words
Over England there stands a man dressed in a robe with a golden sash around his chest.
‘You are right in likening this vision to a mountain, but you misunderstand its nature, for it is not upwards that we climb as towards heaven. That realm is not open to man’s comprehension alone, though he would wish to transcend to it. Heaven is revealed in the coming down of the Lord to men in love. It is those who give up their loves and accept this love who are then given the right to step into heaven, not by any transcendent means, but simply by prayer. But the road to give up these untrue loves is long, tiresome and hard. This vision is not as a single mountain, but like a range of mountains across which we will traverse. The cloud you imagine hides not its height, but its length—the territory that we must traverse for you to understand both your own spiritual state and that of England’s. Yet the more you walk with me, the less difficult it will become as the load of your own false love, which you now feel upon you, begins to fall away. Now come, before you there is more to see that will enlighten your view.’

Book description
The Dream Vision is a modern Pilgrim’s Progress: A Man with a Caul seeks to heal a Strawman in a bid to stop the Man with Lamb’s Horns bringing destruction upon England.

Guiding Nehemiah Blake through his vision is a man with eyes of fire and feet of bronze. He alone holds the key to the vision. But in unlocking it, Nehemiah Blake finds his guide is not afraid to leave him alone in the spiritual desert of England and expect him to point out the way the Man with the Caul should go to escape the coming devastation.

This is a deeply intriguing and ambitious book, a work of prophetic imagination.
