A fun, action-packed first book with characters i adored and an interesting and intriguing plot. One of my only problems was with the action screnes as they really chaotic and rushed which meant that I kept getting lost in what was happening and at some points had to reread what I had just said in order to understand it in detail. Overall though I really enjoyed it though, it was sweet and a quick read.
I would recommend it to fans of Alienated by Melissa Landers. I can't wait to read book 2! ( )

More teeny than I expected. I thought it was funny how sweaty the author made Jess, the main protagonist; sweat dripping from her armpit down her side sweaty. The face offs were confusing; I understand the fight scenes are supposed to be chaotic but they read that way, disorganized and rushed. I kept getting lost in the mayhem. The end was hurried as well. Details got away from the author like a jeep carrying a soldier was hoisted in the air and exploded, later that same guy was running from the debris. These details scattered throughout the book made the story implausible. I also would have like further description of David's ship being shot down, his escape from the burning inferno and how the army knew about his abilities. Typical alien vs US military scenario but still enjoyable. ( )

This book.... well, I'm just going to say it wasn't entirely my cup of tea. The entire time I found myself comparing it to Alienated by Melissa Landers which I really love. The bones of the story are good and the concept is good, but there were just some big things that I wasn't able to get over.

I do think the book is good overall. I think it would translate very well into a Disney movie, and I think it is best suited for younger YA readers. I think people who really enjoy alien books with a little action and a little romance would also enjoy it. Despite my lukewarm feelings towards this book, I will be reading the second book because I think the series overall will be enjoyable.
