When one of my favorite websites (the Ace of Spades HQ) mentioned that an author's heirs found his collected mss and pubbed them posthumously, I had to bite. It seems I've got a soft spot for twisty, macabre short stories (like these ones [book:Death is Coming to Town: Four Murderous Holiday Tales|19543076]) and this collection is just as good. Hard to choose a favorite; maybe "Don't Touch that Dial," even though I saw the ending coming, or maybe "Unhappy Hour," which has some excellent puns. "Father's Fare Fit for the Unfinicky" is pretty good, too (mind, it's an essay, not a story), and it includes easy-to-follow instructions for wasting a dozen eggs and making the dog sick, all at the same time.

Clever stories, a few very clever. This anthology stays on the Kindle. We'll call it a solid four stars. ( )
