Hill of Secrets is a thrilling murder mystery. Author Michal Hartstein brings us this suspenseful and mysterious story involving the murder of a family and the subsequent quest to solve it. She effortlessly immerses us into the culture, characters, scenery, and dialogue. Hartstein touches on some very emotional topics and actions in her book making it a deep read at times. While this is a murder mystery, Hartstein shows tremendous talent for injecting humor and lightness in with the heavy subjects of murder, family life and religion for a beautifully balanced story. Detective Levinger is a fascinating and riveting character that captures the heart and draws us deep into the challenge of uncovering the truth about this murder. Levinger’s own strengths and weaknesses are brought into focus as the truth unfolds. The climax is shocking as the murderer is revealed. I highly recommend it! ( )
