This is primarily a story about HIV and the stigma that accompanies it. Mark Thorpe after being diagnosed HIV positive seems to have finally got his life back together. He has a new partner, a new job and things are finally looking to be on the up. He decides however to keep his health status secret from all but his most trusted supporters.

But things are going well so he decides to celebrate with a holiday to New York. That is when everything goes seriously wrong and he finds himself kidnapped and held hostage by terrorists. Once more his life is under threat, he witnesses the brutality of the terrorists and the murder of innocents. It is clear the terrorists have no regard for human life and may even be enjoying the power they wield.

A steely resolve comes over him, he didn't give into HIV and now he determines he is not going to roll over and allow terrorists to end his life without a fight. He is about to become a reluctant hero, but will he stay a hero if his health status becomes public knowledge and will the loved ones he didn't tell be able to understand why he didn't if it all comes out.
