Derek Jeter grew up in a small town and played lots of sports, but his favorite was always baseball. His dream was to one day play for the New York Yankees. In highschool he was named the best highschool player in the country. The New York Yankees then picked him to be in their team. By the end of the season he was named Rookie of the year, and helped them win the world series. Then in 1999 was the best year when he made 24 homeruns. Then in 2001 They faced Arizona on the 31 of September, and in the first minute of november Derek steped up to plate. He hit a home run, and with that hit the earliest home run ever hit in November. Thats why he has the nickname Mr. November.

I am very interested in books about famouse athletes, because I want to be one myself. I find it interesting to read about their successes. I especialy like reading about the fact that they have ups and downs but keep going. I want to be like that someday too. ( )
