This book is number 21 of The Argeneau Family Series. I can say that I have never been disappointed by a book in this series. Lynsay Sands is a brilliant author who keeps you captivated with her characters. This is the story of Basileios (pronounced “Baw-sill-ee-os”) “Basil” Argeneau. Basil is one of the eldest brothers of the Argeneau family.

Meeting Sherry Carne, a mortal, gives Basil renewed hope. Sherry is an independent woman who owns and operates her own business. Through an interesting turn a fate Sherry is enlightened to the fact that vampires do exist and wonders if she is dreaming or going crazy.

It is very easy to get caught up in the lives of the Argeneau Family. This series is definitely one worth reading.

One day the heroine's life went from normal to horribly abnormal. Suddenly there's a teenage vampire in her store, fleeing from a group of evil vampires who want to use her as a sex slave. Together they flee and the heroine finds herself sucked into the world of the immortals of Atlantis. But it's not all bad. With this change comes a very welcomed surprise in the form of her life mate. The hero is now a lawyer, but he started out as a warrior of the ancient fallen city. He's been told this new woman is his life mate but he's skeptical at first as they are so different in personality. The hero is reserved and stoic while the heroine is scatter brained and has the tendency to ramble in embarrassing situations. She's also very blunt at times and is never shy about exploring the possibly of discovering their new relationship. It suddenly becomes clear that the heroine has been under the control of immortal mind persuasion of a vampire who's been close to her entire life without her even knowing it. The thing about this book was that I didn't really feel like it had all that much plot line. It was sort a jumble of scattered conflicts that didn't excite me in the least. The 'villain', isn't actually the villain except from at the beginning and the very end. In-between there's just a haphazard attempt to make a story out of discovering who the immortal in her life was. I did like the heroine. Her awkwardness in certain situations with her verbal diarrhea made me actually laugh out loud. She was super charming and very endearing. But the hero was just a slab of meat. This was not his story. He might as well have been a side character for all the attention the author gave him. At no point was he every truly involved in the conflict and his character wasn't explored in the least. All in all, it was another lackluster addition of a slowly dying series. ( )

It was okay. It took me a few days to read it because it was just okay. ( )

The Immortal Who Loved Me

The Characters

Basil Argeanu
Sherry Carne

The Story

This story hits the ground running with the Leonius storyline but seems to stop or at least take a long pause. While I enjoyed Basil and Sherry’s getting to know you time I was constantly waiting for the other foot to drop. In the end I wasn’t disappointed it just seemed to take a while.

Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0062316001, Mass Market Paperback)

A few hours ago, Sherry Carne would have sworn that vampires didn’t exist. That’s before rogue immortals rampage through her store, leaving bloody chaos (literally) in their wake. The kicker comes when Sherry learns that one of the vamps on the bad guys’ trail may be her life mate. Her head says it’s impossible. The rest of her takes one look at Basileios Argeneau and has much more interesting ideas.

Whatever Basil expected in a life mate, funny, outspoken Sherry isn’t it. But mind-blowing chemistry and instinct don’t lie. They tell him something else, too—that Sherry’s connection to the immortal world goes deeper than she knows. And that she’s in the kind of danger only Basil can save her from—if she’ll just trust him, now and forever . . .
