McBaine excels at describing the real pain that many LDS women feel when their voices are ignored or contributions are diminished. For that alone, I recommend this important book. But I thought the book could have been better organized, with more clearly articulated recommendations for best practices for local leaders. I was also a bit disappointed that her recommendations almost all focused on adult women. I think she could have paid more attention to Primary and YW-age girls. ( )

Attempting to re-imagine ways in which Mormon women can take a more visible role in the operation of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is one of the biggest parts of this book. There are some good suggestions within her book, many based on practices already in place in different wards. One of the things she said that resonated most with me was her remark that while we might not all feel the same way, the pain of another should matter to us. If nothing else, this book invites conversation. ( )
