Don't be fooled by the pleasant cover (which belongs to the author - weird, his covers are a lot more modern than the book itself) or by the former prestige of the Eminescu publishing house. Innocence of words is actually the innocence of a person that, after reading Eminescu, Nichita Stanescu and Ana Blandiana, decides to become a poet, but has such a limited understanding of poetry that even Eminescu's contemporary imitators are miles better than THIS THING, which actually looks just like the idea of "beautiful poetry" for common people. Of course, these poems are "beautiful" since they contain rhymes (don't even imagine that these rhymes haven't been used thousands of times before), words such as "cleștar" (poetic language can't possibly get more outdated than this...), you can very obviously identify the themes (love is, of course, a must) and, look, right from the first poem you can feel the smell of... philosophy? No, it's just a third-hand imitation of one of Eminescu's gnomic poems that are, obviously, learned about at school. This book is right now at sales - but I think even that price tag is too expensive. Poetry that is so non-poetic (because there's no trace of personality in these copies of copies) that people like me should be offended by the half-page copyright notice suggesting that there is anything truly original in this book.
