OK, I have participated at (almost) the same contest that Duțescu has won with this volume, so I will inevitably be biased (though, on the other hand, I have talked with him several times over the Internet)... nevertheless, I should write here about this book because, well, it was one of the most hyped poetry books of the last few years. It was released at the only poetry publishing house that, at the time, you could find in most shops... It has received a few awards. It was reviewed in many magazines, even those which hardly review the cutting-edge (but also knife-edged) poetry of the 2000s generation. In a way, this book marked an apex for biografism/miserabilism (though Dan Sociu's „cântece eXcesive” (eXcessive songs) was arguably more succesful, and that before the demise of Marin Mincu's Euridice), becoming almost mainstream. What one will find curious is that there is nothing compromising here - just as avant-garde as, say, the finest of the books released at Vinea, though in a different way. There is hardly any violent imagery or words, instead it is plain realism, only slightly sweetened by the biographic scope of the poems. Re-reading after a few years some of the poems, I must say they are not as bad as I thought at first. One might be able to pick on some zen energy behind the intentional dullness and normality of these poems... ( )
