Not including in the reading challenge since it's a short story.

Not a huge story in this short story, but the high stars is because of the sweetness, the hotness, and the humor at the end. Set after the first book, just loved it. The window thing was funny but erotic, even if it cut off before the timing got too good. The discussion between Crane and Merrick was also amusing. The ending with the letters - too cute. I was wondering about those tattoos... Will miss this series and these characters as the main pair. ( )

This is a very short story (about 4500 words) related to A Charm of Magpies series by KJ Charles. It is not often I give a short story five stars, but I loved the end of this story when Lucien and Stephen are sending notes back and forth to each other (the Victorian era version of texting, I guess). It had me laughing out loud and was related to the thing that happened with the tattoos. Loved that too. I'm working my way through this series and I'm really enjoying it ( )

Book description
A short story set just after the end of The Magpie Lord. Stephen Day and Lord Crane return to London. Neither is quite sure where their fledgeling relationship is going. It seems unlikely that there can be much of a future for them, under the circumstances, with Stephen going back to work and Crane returning to China. Until they encounter an unexpected moment of magic.
