This book was originally published by the British version of the American Triple A tourist guide. It is chock full of maps, scenic guides, local histories, etc.
It was obviously intended for the UK tourist to motor about and see the sights. ( )

A richly illustrated guide to British cultural history. This AA guide tells you where these treasures can be found. First published in 1968 this is still a quality reference book. An encyclopedia of places; a history of style; glossary of technical terms; maps, photographs and drawings and so much more.

This is one of those books that interested me in history, art and architecture so when I spotted a this in a second-hand book shop it was a must have. Obviously things will have changed in the intervening years but this is still a wonderful book to have if you are at all interested in social history and the crafts that created so many wonderful buildings and artworks.
