Provides a great opportunity to share poetry at many levels. In addition, the author has included factual paragraphs to accompany the poetry and its amazing illustrations. Cute aspect of the fox following along and appearing in all the illustrations appealed to my Kindergarten audience. ( )

I would use this book as a read-aloud for 4th grade. The poems are simple and easy to understand so that fourth graders can understand them. The book has good poems the students will love and facts about each animal or object talked about in each poem.

A picture book collection of poems helping the reader to explore how animals stay warm in the wintertime and all the wonders of what lies beneath the snow.

Review: This book is a collection of poems about how creatures of the north survive winter, there is kinda a secondary story with the artwork of a fox roaming the pages and the season slowly changing to the next season. The other thing the book has is a short informational section for each creatures in the right corner of the pages on the right side. Comments: I really enjoyed the poems and beautiful artwork they compliment each other very well. This would be a great book to read during winter time to a class, possibly one a day during circle time. I love the page before the table of contents that is branches at the beginning of winter and the last page being the end of winter with buds on the tree starting, great addition to the book. I like the use of texture in the illustrations to make them feel more real. ( )

This is a great collection of poetry for elementary students to read. I love how the author has the poem of an animal followed by real facts about that very same animal. This could be a way to show students how fiction and non-fiction can work together to develop concepts. ( )
