I might file it away for winter reading. Especially since at the moment, I have two books going which are kicking my butt- Wuthering Heights and The Princess of Cleves. :) ... Children And It by Edith Nesbit last night. Cute story so far and I think it will serve admirably to distract me from Wuthering Heights and The Princess of Cleves.

Thanks for the warning. ;) I've begun Wuthering Heights. It seems to be a bit slow in starting, but I am hopeful that it will pick up soon; I am only three chapters in.
I also began The Princess of Cleves last night, which appears to be a sweet, fluffy sort of story. At least, that's the way it appears from the ... Right on, CarlosMcRey. I am not very familiar with old, gothic novels but I thought Wuthering Heights was a great book. Yes it is over the top and has some unpleasant characters, but I enjoyed reading it. I have Women in Love and Woman in White in my TBR pile. Of those I've read, I would have to go with Wuthering Heights. ... but I can't quite seem to get into it at the moment. Guess it's time to pull Marius (my Kindle) back out and start on Wuthering Heights. :) I don't know if this is really appropriate, but I really felt like standing up for Wuthering Heights and especially poor, misunderstood Heathcliff. Not misunderstood because I think he's a sensitive soul, but misunderstood because he's a monster who people seem to compare with Mr. Darcy.
I ... I've just finished Seamus Heaney's Beowulf translation (brilliant brilliant brilliant) and have started Wuthering Heights for Go Review that Book! Obviously time for me to put my core 5 in line for re-reading: Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, Pride and Prejudice, Complete Works of William Shakespeare, and Heidi. Wuthering Heights - hysterically good. ... Women. It was probably the first book I read from the 1001 list many years ago.
The next book I would have read was Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte... One of the best things about Wuthering Heights is that it inspired the Wuthering Heights Anger Management scene in The Well of Lost Plots, which is absolutely hilarious, but probably not as funny if you haven't read Wuthering Heights. I too, really enjoyed the ghosts, angst, brooding, resentment of Wuthering Heights. I read classics on my own (not for academic reasons). I frequently refer to on-line study guides. Next up, Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte. ... I just went through a Brontes phase myself earlier this year after discovering I had only really read Jane Eyre. I read Wuthering Heights, Vilette and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall. Then of course I read The Brontes Went to Woolworths as well.
I notice it says in the notes that she ... Yeah for all the Dracula readers. I can't wait to see that discussion. Bib I read both Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights. I'd go for Jane Eyre over Wuthering Heights but that is me. I found Wuthering Heights a bit overwrought and I didn't really like Heathcliff or Cathy.

It was excruciating sometimes to read about Agnes' experiences with her pupils, but the book was surprisingly funny, which helped offset the darker parts. And what a sweet protagonist. Not to mention that I ... My vote goes to Emily Bronte's Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights. Even though he has a bit of the Byronic hero edge, he's just so single minded! He's the protaganist that I loved to hate because his passion drives him to the point of insanity. ... I think I will read The Shining, listen to The Ersatz Elevator by Lemony Snicket, and do another classic ebook...maybe Wuthering Heights.

Another, more recent book that was highly thought of here on LT but I cannot stand is Beautiful Children by Charles Bock. I did not even bother finishing it. I finished reading Wuthering Heights, and I'm halfway through Songs of the Humpback Whale. I can't believe I haven't read Jane Eyre, The Great Gatsby, The Grapes of Wrath or Wuthering Heights.
I was an English major! And now I'm a librarian! I think the YA suggestion is good. I'm not so sure about some of the classics, though.
