Another hilarious book by David Walliams. I love his books. ( )

Slightly disappointing book from Walliams that my son and I didn’t enjoy as much as his others. It’s a fun take on the Gothic drama, with a vulnerable heiress, an evil aunt with an owl henchman and a friendly ghost, but the plot feels a bit slight and it doesn’t come to life as much as some of his contemporary tales. What a book! The emotion of the book really gives a twisted take on the antagonist-protagonist storyline. The Machiavellian style that David uses, although simple, elevates the book to an outstanding level of capricious writing.Overall, i hgihly recommemend this book to the younger readers as Walliam's simple writing style really caters to that type of audience. Feels a lot like Aunt trunchbull from Roald dahl's "Matilda|", but it is bound to be a big hit as the author is so popular at the moment. ( )

This book is typical of Walliams quirky sense of humour and children seem to love it. His writing style is great for kids as it portrays a lightness and humorous way of looking at the world.
I did enjoy this book as I found the story line ideas good and believable, however at times the story became somewhat repetitive & at times monotonously boring.
I must admit I skimmed through it to get the storyline which revolves around a tiddlywink obsessed Aunt Alberta and her pet Bavarian Owl, Wagner.
Aunt Alberta is on a mission to cheat the young Lady Stella Saxby out of her inheritance - Saxby Hall.
Lady Stella is fortunate to have the help of a ghost named Soot. His character is good to read as you find yourself taking on a cockney accent. Between both of them they take on Aunt Alberta and in the end they rightfully retain Saxby Hall. A great story that tells of good versus evil in a humourous way. ( )
