Television writer Kate Meredith is having the day from hell. First, her show was canceled. Then her fiance left her for another woman. Now, she's courting disaster by flirting with the hard-bodied, tattooed, motorcycle-riding bad boy of her dreams...who also happens to be the man who fired her. If people had told Ian Hart that he'd be firing Kate in the morning and dancing with her that night, he'd have laughed in their faces. Despite her leggy body, the sweet but geeky redhead isn't his type. At least, that's what he thinks before spotting her in a club wearing an outfit that reveals her surprisingly delectable assets. Before he knows it, Ian becomes Kate's knight on a shining motorcycle, escorting her home to prevent her from running off with some random guy. But when the night is over, "Little Miss Boring" and her sexy former boss just might turn their oh-so-wrong feelings into something very right.… (more)

Just a nice little chick lit novel to kill some time. ( )

Almost Like LOve is book one of a series. It can be read as a standalone as well. Looking back to reading these last week, I think that each book can be read as a standalone, yet I think to have a complete picture to some amazing stories - I would recommend reading them in order.
1. Almost Like Love
2. Nothing Like Love
3. Anything But Love
This book is centered around a friendship of girls - Kate, Simone and Jessica. This is Kate's story. Kate is falling to pieces. She loses her job, gets left by her fiance and feels like crap. She runs into her ex-boss, Ian and makes a deal. During this time frame they get to know each other and sparks fly between them from the very moment they lock eyes in the bar. How it unfolds is awesome. Ian, the bad boy, tattooed CEO with a past. Kate is just discovering herself as Ian discovers that it is all more than he would have thought possible. ( )

Loved it!! Fantastic enemies to lovers story that is well written with amazing characters that kept me entertained page after page. He's a bad boy turned corporate exec, she's the shy good girl who would love for her inner bad girl to come out. Maybe he's the one to help....

As I said a great entertaining story that I highly recommend! ( )

The blurb explains pretty well what this book is about. The only thing I would add it’s that after the death of his sister Ian became the legal guardian of his eleven-year-old nephew, Jacob. They have been living together for couple of months already; but sadly, Ian hasn’t been able to connect with Jacob and everyday that passes they are growing further apart. Until Kate comes to their lives and finds she has a lot in common with Jacob, like his love for comics and superheroes.

Kate Meredith is one of those heroines you can easily identify with; she’s a big geeky/nerdy, sweet and smart, but at the same time has some insecurities.

You need to know Ian to like him. He is a bit of an ass, he has a relationship phobia and is married to his job. He doesn’t believe in love, and even though he thinks what he’s doing with his life is right, he doesn’t has his priorities in order. He needed Kate in his life to realize this.
Ian loves his nephew but he gets frustrated that he can’t connect with him, the problem is that he’s expecting Jacob to be something he isn’t’. Luckily for them, Kate comes into their lives to bring the light they so much needed.

The chemistry between Kate and Ian was off the charts; it was really fun seeing them play around it and trying to deny their (very obvious) feelings. I really liked how protective Ian was of Kate and I loved how Kate brought out the best of Ian. Their journey is not perfect; they have to come to grips with what they want in their lives and fight for it. This only made me believe even more in a promising future for them.

I really liked Kate and Jacob’s relationship. I loved how they found in each other a kindred spirit. I also love how Kate helped Ian to bridge a relationship with his nephew.

Almost Like Love by Abigail Strom is a sweet, fun, light and very entertaining contemporary romance. Almost Like Love is the perfect read for a gloomy day.

Almost Like Love was my first book by Abigail Strom but I can guarantee you it won’t be my last. ( )
