In my opinion this book is enjoyable with the detailed illustrations while the poetic style of writing helps form a lullaby effect when reading along. The illustrations help the reader understand the different homes and beds that the many Chesapeake Bay creatures sleep in. The poetic style of writing helps this book be enjoyable for a goodnight story as well as put readers into a sleepy mood. The story is about how humans and other Chesapeake Bay creatures sleep and go “beddy bye in the bay.” The stories big idea is to help inform readers of the many animal’s homes and similarities to you and me. Land and sea creatures of the Chesapeake Bay are all brought in to this delightful poem that relates how every animal sleeps in a different way. Herons, crabs, clams, turtles and fish each go to sleep in a different place in the water. So, too, do ducks, butterflies, birds, beavers, and even oysters sleep in their own ""beds.""
