It was refreshing to read a book not featuring vampires, or set in a dystopian America. The ending was very unique and the riddle woven through out the story was a good addition to give the book a sense of unity. ( )

As the description said, this is not a book but a riddle and as a riddle it's a five star one!
AENIGMA is a fresh air in the fantasy market that has been crowded with vampires, dystopian worlds, medieval knights and sorceress. This book combines ancient history, mythology, riddles and an UNIQUE ending.

In the first part, THE PROFECY, you see the actions that lead to the conflict between Rome and the kingdom of Pontus, with the Greeks trapped in the middle. A sort of ‘West' and 'East' confrontation that has been a continuous fact in our World History. The real characters are fascinating, Mithridates VI, known as the king of poisons (due to his obsession to become immune to venoms) and Sulla, the Roman commander that won every single battle despite the fact that his army was less than a third of his enemy's.

But, this is not a historical novel; the author only uses this conflict to draw the landscape of the story. In the second part, THE MISSION, the seven chosen ones will be involved in many adventures to find the Treasure that the Pythia revealed in her prophecy. This led them to find a ancient riddle wrote when the Word was first pronounced. The Reader that solves it would become a character in the next book.

This novel has it all: action, adventure, romance and surprises. It has potential to become an epic movie. ( )

I received an electronic copy of this book in exchange for a review.

The one thing that makes this book interesting is that there is an unsolved riddle running through, revealed through five great books of wisdom. It is left to us, the readers, to solve, with the prize of becoming a character in the next book.

The rest of it? A long-winded pseudo-historical with more characters than I could keep track of, as well as such wonderfully period exclamations as "Wow!"

Unless you really want to solve an obscure riddle or you have a love of bad historical fiction, I'd avoid this one like the plague. ( )
